Information on how to support your child in Reading at home:
Dear Parents and
Caregivers
Children will
bring something home to read each night.
Reading and
writing the basic words as well as knowing the alphabet letter names and sounds
is essential to reading and writing success.
Some time will be needed each night to work on this.
Each week your
child will bring home a letter and word of the week to assist with learning new
basic words. If they can already read
the word, you might want to get them to spell it. There will also be an opportunity for them to
practice writing letters correctly.
Each Friday your
child will bring home a poem of the week that they have been learning. Please send the poem book back to school on
Monday.
Reading Eggs – You
will find their log in details at the front of the book, please help them to
log on. It is important that they carry
out the activities themselves as it is set to their individual ability.
I would like your
child to take responsibility for their reading by returning their book bag each
morning.
Please don’t hesitate
to talk to me about any concerns you may have with your child’s reading.
Regards,
Sarin Nand
